Vicaima de Vale de Cambra "gives birth" to 9,000 doors in Kuwait's new maternity hospital

Vicaima , which presents itself as one of the largest European players in the design and production of doors, frames, wardrobes, panels and furniture pieces, generates 90% of its sales in more than 30 countries, including Kuwait, where it has just equipped the New Maternity Hospital with more than nine thousand beds "made in" Vale de Cambra.
"Participation in the New Maternity Hospital in Kuwait is yet another example of the company's ability to respond to large-scale projects, offering innovative solutions for highly demanding environments," emphasizes Vicaima, in a statement.
With a total capacity of 789 beds, 59 delivery rooms and 28 operating rooms, the New Maternity Hospital is considered "one of the largest and most advanced hospital projects in the Persian Gulf region", having been designed to offer specialized facilities for diagnosis and treatment in obstetrics, gynecology and neonatology, "consolidating itself as a center of excellence in the area of maternal health".
Occupying a total area of 360 thousand square meters, the New Maternity Hospital comprises four interconnected buildings – with 18 floors in its main tower – including a main hospital, an outpatient consultation unit, a parking building with capacity for 1,800 vehicles and a service center.
The solutions provided by Vicaima include large, double-leaf, sliding doors, "contributing to maximizing space and mobility between different areas", and doors with glass openings were also integrated, "adding light, an essential feature in a hospital context, and with a ventilation grille, essential for air circulation between spaces", details the company based in Vale de Cambra.
The access areas to rooms with radiology equipment are equipped with radiation-blocking doors, "ensuring the essential protection of professionals and users", highlights Vicaima, which closed 2024 with a turnover of 115 million euros, five million more than in the previous year.
Vicaima is owned by the Costa Leite family, one of the richest in Portugal – with a fortune valued at around 433 million euros, it occupies 33rd position in the 2024 ranking of Forbes Portugal magazine.
